So if you have a tooth that’s, you know, broken down, if the tooth is chipped or it had a cavity and because of that cavity it broke, our first line of treatment is always to try to put a filling in. But sometimes enough of that tooth is gone that a filling is not going to hold and stay there long term. When that happens we do dental crowns and sometimes we do bridges.
What a dental crown is, is a cap that fits around the entire surface of the tooth and will reinforce it. So once it goes into your mouth it looks exactly like a natural tooth, but it’s really sitting on top of that natural tooth and making sure that, you know, you can eat and chew without that tooth getting damaged further.
